This summer the Desert Southwest Conference New & Vital Faith Committee and DSC Communications are sponsoring a United Methodist Communications workshop at Dove of the Desert UMC, at 7201 W Beardsley Rd, Glendale, AZ 85308, on August 10 focusing on the latest social media best practices and church marketing strategy. This free workshop includes lunch and promises to leave participants with a step-by-step plan to evoke conversation and relationship between your church and its surrounding community. Even if your church is already doing social media, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn about the newest trends and recommendations for practical and efficient online storytelling and networking.

Strategic Church Marketing (2 hours) beginning at 10:00 AM

Join United Methodist Communications as we help church leaders begin a journey to build and implement a strategic marketing plan for their church. We will explore the planning process, branding ideas, and various ways that local churches can effectively reach individuals and make an impact through the utilization of the Church Marketing Plan Tool (CMPT).

Social Media for Churches (2 hours) beginning at 1:00 PM

Telling stories of faith and sharing messages through social media is vital in our digital world. Participants in this workshop will learn about social media platforms, upcoming trends, and how to utilize emerging tools for maximum community engagement. Social Media can be used as a path to meet people where they are, so let us help your church get on the right track to engaging with members and reaching new people.

He currently serves as the Director of Training and Development at United Methodist Communications. Jeremy has specialized in facilitating a training atmosphere aimed at fostering growth and creating a culture of learning excellence. In his spare time, he enjoys using his communication skills to diffuse and manage tight situations through his work as a high school and college football official.

Wondering who should attend this workshop? Anyone that works on the church newsletter, website, social media, and advertising. We’re guessing this is the pastor, the church secretary, or communications staff/volunteer. What about your Lay Leader and Church Council Chair? They should come too! Effective communications is a team effort. Don’t skimp on inviting each committee chairperson that essential to inviting and engaging others about the ministries of the church.
