Rev. Oskar (Tony) Ontanyon

My name is Oskar Antonino Ontanyon, better known as Tony Ontanyon, and I was born in Santander, Spain. I grew up with my maternal grandparents and the family moved to Southern France when I was six years old. I went to a Catholic boarding school in Spain; in high school, I played soccer and handball and I loved classical and French music and to read books. Now, I try to play the guitar.

I was ordained a Catholic priest in 1980 and graduated from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Theology. I officially joined the Desert Southwest Conference in March 2015 and now serve as a provisional elder within the Conference.

It is my belief that nothing can be more important than finding God and falling in love with Him in an unconditional attitude. I sought to stay in love with Jesus throughout my whole life. My faith pillars are reading and studying the Bible, prayer, church building, and ecumenical community sharing.

What I enjoy about ministry is the liturgy, Sunday worship including preaching, and getting involved with the congregation and the community at large.

I love reading, researching, writing, classical music and any other kinds of music including country, blues, and jazz. I love to hike, and my loyal companion is a pit bull-bulldog cross-breed named Athena.
