The past two Wednesdays the Desert Southwest Conference presented inspirational devotions to bring an uplifting spiritual pause during the middle of the week. This ‘Earth Day,’ North District Superintendent Rev. Dan Morley will present the devotion and bring attention to ‘Earth Day.’
“Remember who you are.” Those words echo through my soul during the season of Lent. This year the challenge to remember who I am is coupled with the vision of the Desert Southwest Conference. You know the vision statement: We are called to be a courageous church: loving like Jesus, acting for justice, united in hope.

At a time when many of our local churches cannot provide leadership training for our youth, the DSWC Camp and Retreat Ministry at Potosi Pines steps in and steps up to fill the gap. For 10 years the C4C – Counselors 4 Christ program has engaged youth from the North District, including from the Foster care system, in learning to lead service, fellowship and spiritual formation activities.
Preparation is a consistent part of our Christian life. John the Baptist focused a lot of his attention on “preparing the way of the Lord.” Two of the seasons in the church year, Advent and Lent, are specially devoted to preparation for the great feasts of Christ’s birth and rebirth. As I begin this new season of ministry, I am preparing for it in several ways this summer.
Walking a labyrinth as a model for prayer has been used by Christians for centuries. Labyrinths are found in cathedrals, churches, parks, hospitals and many others locations around the globe. Las Vegas has several outdoor locations from Red Rock Canyon to Boulder City and even including our own Potosi Pines Camp.
