Mary Lou Adame
Mary Lou Adame came to the Desert Southwest Conference from the Rio Grande and Southwest Texas Conferences, returning there in her retirement. An Elder in the UMC, Marylou currently serves a small congregation in Bryan, Texas, and works for a hospice organization there. Marylou is the theologian for this retreat and part of the worship leadership team. She can be reached at .
Jerry Haas is a retired Elder from the Desert Southwest Conference. He is the former Director of the Academy for Spiritual Formation and Emerging at The Upper Room in Nashville (1999 – 2012). After returning to Southern Arizona, he served as Executive Director of the Border Community Alliance, a nonprofit committed to Borderlands education and cross-border collaboration. Doug Handlong currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Green Valley, Arizona. A native of Arizona, Doug attended Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, and served appointments in various settings in Arizona as well as an appointment in Alaska. Judy Holloway is an ordained Deacon from the Central Texas Conference. An accomplished musician and choir director, she has served on many Academy teams, including the two-year Academy in San Antonio. Judy is the worship and music coordinator for this Academy. Gail Parson is a retired math teacher, now living in Oro Valley, Arizona with her husband Darrell. She is a member of Vista de la Montana UMC where she serves as chairperson of the worship committee. Gail completed Academy #40, the two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation which took place at San Damiano Retreat Center in Danville, California. Gail is the hospitality coordinator for this retreat.
