(UMM)— Congratulations to Griffith UMC in Las Vegas. On Scout Sunday (celebrated on January 27) the congregation was presented with the Shepherd Church Charter Recognition Award, which is provided by the United Methodist Men. More information on the award can be found in the brochure located at http://www.gcumm.org/pdf/awards/shepherd_charter.pdf .

Griffith UMC has sponsored Boy Scout Troop 69 since 1956. The troop was started in 1948,  making it one of the longest  continuous running troops in the Las Vegas Valley.

On January 27 Troop 69 Committee Chair, John Lacey spoke to those gathered about the history of the troop and the honor of the Shepherd Church Charter Recognition.
