Stephen J. Hustedt, former Director of Communications for DSC
As you read this I will be beginning a new Communications Ministry in the Upper New York Conference of The United Methodist Church. It is a Conference that really needs my skill set, and my family and I are excited about where the Holy Spirit is leading us. That said it is not always easy to go where God is telling us to go.
Over the last several weeks I have had the opportunity to say personal goodbyes to many and to remember all the great things we’ve done together in the seven years I’ve been here, but that’s not what makes it so hard to leave. What makes it hardest to leave is knowing that my family and I will have to be among the admiring observers watching from a far as this Conference continues to do great things and lead the whole church in areas like telling our story, starting new communities of faith, Social Holiness, and so much more. Great things are expected of you, and I can’t wait to see how this Conference lives up to those expectations.
So it is in many ways with a heavy heart that my family and I leave, but our time here has prepared us to go and be a part of helping The Upper New York Conference live into their own role of leadership. While it is not easy to go, we have felt the Holy Spirit throughout this process, and we know that when we trust in God all things will be as they should.
As we leave we’ll take the love, support, and ministry of The Desert Southwest Conference in our hearts with us. Great things are in the future for all of us and for the entire United Methodist Church!
Thank you for the role you played and will continue to play in our journey.
