We had a great retreat at Mingus Camp. What an amazing setting. Yes, it rained and rained. But just as the rain refreshed and renewed the earth, we were refreshed and renewed as we shared together and prayed together and enjoyed devotions, resting, visiting, puzzles, crafts, a movie, and great food.
We took a walk in the rain to the overlook into the cloud filled valley. We marveled at the amazing hues of white that distinguished the different cloud layers and shifting plumes. We watched as the clouds moved slowly revealing and hiding the view into the valley. We paused long enough to note the many varied mushrooms that were popping up all over the forest floor and stooped down to see the ribbed and ruffled shapes and brilliant colors.
Together we pondered the awesomeness of God’s creation. Why would God create so many kinds and colors of mushrooms in this one small area? We have a God who loves beauty and uniqueness whether it is seen by anyone or not. And we were blessed to see them that day.
Special thanks go to Pam Wagner and Cindy Kristopeit for persevering to make this retreat happen. They understand the value of clergy women gathering together and the value of us connecting authentically. They recognize the need for renewal and the importance of us taking time for this gift.
Neva Perdue shared, “In the three years I have attended the clergy women’s retreat I’ve made more and deeper connections with other clergy than in the many years I served in my prior conference.”
This was my first year to attend and I am grateful. I knew one other clergy woman a bit and did not know the others. Now I have new sisters in Christ and I greatly appreciate the sharing and especially praying for each other and our ministries.
I pray more of our clergy women will join us next year.
