This Sunday, December 4 Justa Center will be celebration their ten year anniversary serving senior aged 55 and older. Join them at 10:00 AM for this special worship service to celebrate and thank the Los Arcos United Methodist Building Corporation for their support. Justa Center is located at  1001 W. Jefferson St.

What We Do?
Founded in 2006, Justa Center is a day resource center for seniors aged 55 and older who are homeless in the metro Phoenix area. Of the roughly 130 people we see every day, nearly 50 percent of them are veterans, 42 percent of whom are women.

The mission of Justa Center is the transformation of the lives of all individuals with whom we come into contact.
This transformation happens in a variety of ways. For our members, it is through empowerment and the identification of their own needs that help them formulate solutions to their challenges, both of homelessness and of living as a homeless person.

For our staff, volunteers, and others who come to the Center, this transformation takes place when people can see the humanity in each other, regardless of their place in life. The act of people helping people leads to the transformation of lives.

Members are provided coffee, showers, phone, internet, lockers, laundry services and a library. Justa Center also cares for the spiritual needs of its members. Rev. Gerri Bast leads Centering Prayer every weekday at 8:30 a.m. and an ecumenical worship service every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. We aid in helping individuals attain housing, VA benefits, DES benefits, Social Security, employment, counseling, legal assistance and nursing care.

Justa Center offers a coordinated effort that includes procuring safe housing, nutrition assistance, basic physical healthcare, aftercare, mental health counseling, personal development, job assessment and training/placement assistance. Our staff members include a housing specialist, an employment specialist, a resource specialist, an aftercare specialist, a nurse, a social worker, and a veterans’ advocate.

Justa Center is also working to help senior homeless veterans rebuild their lives by providing housing assistance, nutrition assistance, basic healthcare, and mental health counseling, as well as personal development and aftercare.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that between 65,000 and 130,000 veterans are homeless on any given night in America, and approximately twice that many experienced homelessness over the course of the year. Conservative estimates conclude that one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping on the streets of Phoenix tonight has put on a uniform and served his country. Maricopa County counts for 71 percent of the state’s homeless population and more than 12 percent are homeless veterans. During the summer months, visits by homeless veterans increase on average by 20 percent, due to the high summer temperatures.

Your continued support of Justa Center and our Veterans Advocacy Program allows us to reach out and help those men and women who have at one time or another worn our nation’s uniform.

Justa Center does not receive any government funds; we operate solely on private donations and gifts. Without your generous support, this important work could not be accomplished.
