Our theme this year “UNITED IN CHRISTMAS.” Indeed, it is time to unite in saying Merry Christmas – Our way of saying thank you to GOD FOR HIS LOVE, AND HIS GIFT, JESUS CHRIST.
The Simbang Gabi for Filipinos evolved from a midnight service on Christmas Eve, to a longer vigil period. But, the original midnight service was first chronicled by EGERIA, the GALICIAN woman who went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land around 381–384. She witnessed how the early Christians of Jerusalem honored the Christmas mystery with a midnight vigil at Bethlehem. This was followed by a torchlight procession to Jerusalem, arriving at the Church of the Resurrection at dawn.
