South District – “The Inn Project”

by | Feb 20, 2017 | South District Newsletter

The Inn Project (TIP)

People are rallying together to respond with love to a request for help from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office. ICE has asked for help with temporary housing and transportation for immigrant families. Most of the families are from Central America and are in the United States as Refugee or Asylum immigrants. They have cleared background checks and customs. The coordinated response is called The Inn Project.

Some churches will provide safe temporary lodgings for families for approximately 5-24 hours and in some cases 2-3 days. The churches will provide meals, hygiene and bedding necessities, warm clothing, and other miscellaneous travel needs. When contact with the refugee’s extended family is secured, churches will coordinate transportation for the refugees to join their families.

Over 45 families have already been served at the two sites, and more are arriving each day. You can be part of the love expressed by responding in whatever way Jesus is calling you to act.
