I’ve been thinking aout the Church…your church. Why are we here, and what is our reason for existence? We all know that we are called to ministry in the local church, but do you know why you are called?
I’ve been thinking that the simple answer, besides the theological treatise, is that the world we live in needs the Church…your church. Our job is to remind our world that there is more to life than things, success, fame, and finances. There is love, joy, peace and hope. If you had to choose between 1) things, success, fame, and finances, and 2) love, joy, peace, and hope, which would you choose? I’m not saying that one choice precludes another, but if we had to choose, would we embrace the deeper answer to life’s questions?
What happens when we neglect the deeper things of living life is that we seek to find happiness through things not meant to bring meaning. God created us for the depth of love, joy, peace and hope, and not for the frosting of things, success, fame, and finances. We all know, for example, the experience of joy…would you choose to live without it? Or is joy one of the things that keeps us breathing and laughing and living every day?
So, today I want to encourage you to choose life! Life that is filled with love, joy, peace, and hope…because the world we live in needs to know these things too. And we are the conduit of this form of beautiful life.
I am praying for you.
Faith, hope and love,
Dottie
