Hope United Methodist Church’s 70th Anniversary

by | Mar 28, 2017 | North District Web Page, North District Newsletter

Hope United Methodist Church is celebrating 70 years of ministry April 1st and 2nd of 2017. The weekend kicks off with a service project to be performed at the site of the Colorado River Historical Society in Davis Camp Park, Bullhead City, AZ.  Congregation members will be cleaning up, landscaping, and packing up documents to thank the community that supported the church throughout its history.  Sunday’s celebration will follow the 9 am worship service.  It will include a Potluck Brunch and Celebration Program.  Presentations include a video; a reading of the letter supporting the naming of the church, Hope; and stories from other long-time residents.  All previous ministers have been invited to join in the celebration.  Members have been encouraged to record memories from their time with the church on our Memory Lane in the Social Hall and oral histories will be recorded.

Hope United Methodist Church began as Davis Dam Camp Community Church in 1947; located in the camp for all the workers brought in to build Davis Dam on the Colorado River.  The church moved to its current location in the early 1970’s and has grown as the community it serves, Bullhead City, AZ, has grown to over 40,000 in population.

Everyone is welcome to come celebrate the history of the church and the vibrancy of the current congregation and ministry in the community.
