On August 15, 2017, we celebrated the five year anniversary of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which provided a renewable two-year work authorization and protection from deportation for eligible young adults who came here as children. Over the past five years, over 800,000 of our friends and neighbors have received DACA and are vital parts of our communities. These young immigrants known as DREAMers want to be able to give back, to work, to care for their families. In the short video below, DACA clients of Justice For Our Neighbors network share why DACA matters so much to them. Over 2,000 DREAMers have been helped by the Justice For Our Neighbors network.
Today, Future AZ Justice For Our Neighbors wants to continue with this help with the opening of our clinic at New Hope UMC in Tucson. We ask for your financial support. Your tax-deductible donation will allow us to help young DREAMers obtain DACA, while at the same time support our work of fighting for a less precarious, more permanent future for DREAMers in the U.S.
Donate online at https://dscumc.org/jfondonation or mail your donation payable to Desert Southwest Conference, at 1550 E. Meadowbrook Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85014-4040, and attention to Billie Fidlin. Please write JFON or Justice for Our Neighbors in the check memo line.
This week we were overjoyed to receive a $15,000 charity donation, which brings our current balance to $51,589 and we will soon receive up to a $40,000 matching grant from National JFON. Our goal is $90,000 cash and $25,000 in kind gifts. Your financial gift will assure that we open our clinic by November 1. Together, we can ensure that these young immigrants will no longer have to fear deportation from the country that is their home, and will instead have the chance to pursue their dreams. With Joy,
President of Board of Directors of
