“We heard testimonies of broken people who are already feeding hundreds in their communities. At times, it was honest and raw. At times it was healing and almost hopeful,” said Florida area Bishop Kenneth H. Carter Jr., who toured the state after Hurricane Irma.  Read more here.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

There’s needed help not only in Florida, and Houston, but around the globe from hurricanes, to floods, and the list continues. UMCOR’s tentacles extend far and wide and you can help.

THIS IS ONE WAY YOU CAN HELP.

Rev. Brian Diggs, Associate Director, United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) – Depot West will be the guest speaker at the North District Annual United Methodist Women Celebration.

Members of North District United Methodist churches are all invited to come learn about UMCOR. In light of the recent hurricanes, UMCOR needs to replenish its supply of cleaning and hygiene kits, as well as school kits. You can find detailed information about the precise items needed to supply the kits at UMCOR/Relief-Supplies. A complete cleaning kit is valued at $65. A hygiene kit is valued at $12. An alternative to supplying a completed kit is to provide multiples of some of the items needed. Volunteers will assemble these into kits. For now, these are the only items that can be sent to the disaster areas. Please do not send any other items at this time.

This event will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, 12 p.m. at Journey UMC, 6450 E. Stewart Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89110.

Kits will be delivered to Rev. Diggs for transport to the Salt Lake City Depot, at that time. UMCOR also accepts cash donations. These may be sent through usual United Methodist channels (send to the Conference Center) or directed to North District United Methodist Women to present to Rev. Diggs on October 14th.

UMCOR spends 100% of designated donations on the projects specified. When UMCOR donors give their time, money, and supplies, they join UMCOR as the hands and feet of Christ.

North District Canyon Cluster churches may choose to send their donations of kits, supplies or cash to Las Vegas with Glenda Hill who lives in Northern Arizona and will be attending the meeting on October 14, 2017. Please call or email to arrange delivery of the kits to Glenda  712 – 898 – 6408, glendaghill@iCloud.com
