Bishop Hoshibata has asked all the churches of our Conference to join in the celebration of Africa University’s 25th birthday. This past summer, our Conference chose to celebrate this milestone by providing education for students through scholarships. There are several ways of accomplishing this.

First, a church can sponsor a scholarship in its entirety or partner with another church or churches in sharing the cost. This is the Usahwira Scholarship program administered directly by the Africa University Development office. A scholarship for one year is $6,000. Sponsors have an opportunity for direct contact with the student who receives their scholarship.

Second, a church can contribute to the Annual Conference to work toward a goal of $130,000, which will provide an endowment for one scholarship in perpetuity.

Third, churches can provide a scholarship for Africa University graduate students to attend Claremont School of Theology (CST). CST will directly administer these gifts.

As we approach Christmas, what better gift than one which provides education that can truly better the world. We encourage all local churches to consider designating your special Christmas offering for Africa University.

Feel free to email us if you have any questions at jehx2@cox.net.  And thank you for your consideration.
