A Freezer…A Food Pantry…and A Community

by | Nov 13, 2017 | West District Newsletter, West District Web Page

As the use of the food pantry at Haven UMC in Jerome has continued to grow, the need for a newer freezer/refrigerator arose. This need was posted on the Jerome Community Message Board.

A few weeks after being posted, a local business, which was scheduled to use the fellowship hall at Haven for a weekend seminar, informed the church that they would be bringing a chest freezer for use during the seminar… then leaving it for use by the food pantry!

Next, a local family in Jerome found two chest freezers they had no use for….and donated both to the church!

Finally, a friend of a Haven member was so impressed by the ministry of the pantry in Jerome that she is taking this idea to her own church…and she has a freezer to donate to this new ministry!

As people are served by the food pantry ministry at Haven, they are inspired to serve, as well, and offer their skills and services to assist with various maintenance projects and yard work at the church.

Community is truly being built in Jerome through the Food Pantry Ministry at Haven UMC.
