Message from Dan – It’s about Gratitude

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High” (Psalm 92:1).
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him” (Psalm 100:4).

In the New Testament, the word most often used for “praise” literally means “thank” or “give thanks to.” The best way to praise God is to think of things you are thankful for and to thank God for them.

But why does God want our praise?

This is how our spirit connects with God’s Spirit.  For we were created in God’s image (Genesis 1:26) and our praises unite us with the One we long for and desire.

Our praise also lets God know that we appreciate and recognize these blessings bring life and joy. We are all pleased when someone thanks us for something special we have done.

Gratitude is also that expression which gets the healing agents of the body active where we hurt. Thankfulness creates wellness in one’s soul.

For Thanksgiving, write down or say aloud at least two or three things you are grateful for.  Look for the blessings you often take for granted and point them out to a friend or family member. And always, thank the Lord for the beautiful blessings.

As I have been traveling our North District circuit, I have been connecting with lay and clergy leaders in our churches and I am blessed to overflowing. And so, I echo the words of the Apostle Paul — “I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now.  I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1)
