Are You a Lifelong Learner?

I was watching TV the other day when a commercial came on asking for donations to a nonprofit organization called the KIND Fund. “KIND” stands for “Kids In Need of Desks,” and is a project that collects money in order to build and provide desks for children and scholarships to help teen girls attend high school in Malawi, Africa. In the commercial, one of the teen scholarship recipients being interviewed for the commercial says to the interviewer, “Education is key to a good life.” She’s right…and fortunately in the United States of America, we value the importance of getting a good education. We may not agree on every aspect of the education system, but we do know that getting an education is important to our personal success.

From the very, very young to the very, very old, we are all (or at least we should be) lifelong learners. And as members and friends of our West District churches, both clergy and laity have a wonderful opportunity to learn something new…about our world, about our faith, and about the ways we can use our God-giving gifts to be in ministry with others. Why would we want to do this? Because I believe God wants us to!! After all, as we read in Proverbs 9:9, “Instruct the wise and they grow in wisdom; teach the just and they grow in understanding.” And in Proverbs 1:5, “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance…” Clearly we are meant to use the beautiful minds God has given us…and the West District has made it easy!

So register today! Because not only is increased knowledge key to a good life, but being in fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ is key to developing deeper relationships with God and with each other. We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity.
