It is with great pleasure that the Desert Southwest Archives and History Committee announces that on December 28, 2017, Liberty United Methodist Church in Buckeye, AZ was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Please join me in congratulating them on this achievement.

The National Register is the official listing of the Nation’s cultural resources worthy of preservation. Liberty UMC has continuously worship in their original 1911 church, along with Memorial Hall added in 1948. A celebration is being planned for the plaque dedication, with more information to follow.

Liberty UMC joins Williams Community UMC, St. John’s UMC (Kingman, AZ), and First UMC (Glendale, AZ) on the National Register of Historic Places. For more information on what it means for a historic church building to be added to this prestigious list, contact Jennifer Barber, Conference Archivist: jbarber@dscumc.org or 602-266-6956 x264.
