Buckeye, AZ ̶̶̶ ̶ Liberty United Methodist Church will receive its official historical marker on Sunday, April 8, 2018, during a dedication ceremony at 3:00 PM at Liberty United Methodist Church, located at 7598 S. Liberty School Rd. Buckeye, AZ 85326.

Speakers for the Ceremony include Roger Brevoort, Architectural Archivist, and Robert Hoshibata, Bishop of the Desert Southwest Conference of The United Methodist Church. State and local dignitaries are expected to attend; descendants of the original settlers will also be recognized. The ceremony will include a video of the church’s history and an unveiling of the marker. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

Liberty United Methodist Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 28, 2017. The National Register is the official listing of the Nation’s cultural resources worthy of preservation. Liberty UMC has continuously worshiped in their original 1911 church, along with the Memorial Hall added in 1948.

The current pastor, Reverend Bev Ritland, is excited about this opportunity for the community to honor the church. Liberty United Methodist Church is located a half mile west of Jackrabbit Trail on Highway 85. Regular worship services are held every Sunday at 10:00 AM. On April 8th, the dedication ceremony will begin at 3:00 PM.
