Fundraising is a topic near and dear to all of our hearts.  One of our pastor’s wives notified us of a fundraising program at the company she works with that’s a quick and easy way to raise money for our churches and  that is also good for our planet! The Savers FUNDrive program is a great way for non-profit organizations to raise much needed funding without purchasing or selling any product.

Simply collect gently used clothing, bed and bath linens and accessories, shoes, and household items, and then deliver to the store nearest you at a pre-determined date and time, and Savers will pay you by the pound for your donation. They even offer reimbursement for a truck rental if your drive meets weight requirements.

A big part of Christ Community UMC youth group centers around activities at Mingus Mountain Camp. They regularly participate in summer and winter camps, youth retreats, and clean-up days. The church has historically been able to assist with camp fees for the youth, but 2017-2018 brought the blessing of a major church campus renovation! With all of the resource usage and other expenses involved with that activity, they knew they needed to get a little more creative with youth fundraising. Christ Community UMC adopted the Savers FUNDrive program into our youth fundraising efforts in 2017 and had some major success! Throughout 2017, they were able to raise close to $1,000 to assist with youth camp initiatives, thanks to assistance from the congregation, supporting communities, and youth! They aim to DOUBLE that amount in 2018!
