Summer Fun at St. Paul’s UMC, Tucson

by | May 15, 2018 | South District Webpage, South District Newsletter

Summer at St. Paul’s UMC, Tucson is an exciting time. There are activities available for all ages!

St. Paul’s hosts approximately 100 children at Vacation Bible School, most from the surrounding community. It takes a village to offer a safe and fun experience for the children. Last year we had 65 volunteers and needed evey one! This years theme is: Rolling River Rampage. The chuch is also collaborating with Drama Kids International to offer an afternoon Drama Camp from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Other events for children and young adults include:  Lego Sunday, Sports VBS, Jr. High Mission Trip, summer camps at Mingus Mountain, and an open gym. In collaboration with Upward Sports, St. Paul’s is offering an 8 week, indoor summer soccer leage for boys and girls between the ages of 5-11. Upward Sports teaches children to build character and lasting faith. We will be teaching the students how to play with Purpose.

For adults, we are offering Adult Sunday School for Parents. This class is for parents of all ages, from parents of little ones to parents of adult children, and parents that are now grandparents. This class will provide a chance to share experiences and connect with others facing the same issues. Through the Old Testament book of Nehemiah, the class will explore what the Bible tells us about the heart of what to be a parent.

St. Paul’s also has opportunities for Seniors: “Wednesday Morning at the Movies” will continue during the summer months. Other opportunities include a tour to Mt. Lemmon for a short hike and lunch at one of the restaurants on the mountain; a stretch and strengthening class and Tai Chi classes.

Independence Block Party and Parade: St. Paul’s annual Summer Block Party on July 1st will include food and fun; a parade for all ages on foot or wheels, water games, jumping castles, food trucks and hot dogs will round out the day. This event is open to everyone!

We are looking forward to the summer ahead.
