Rev. Deanna Self-Price – UMC of Green Valley, Green Valley AZ
The Rev. Deanna Self-Price grew up in North Canton, Ohio. While in college, she worked as a Library Technical Assistant and later graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in English. Discovering a call to ministry, she served on several church staffs in the West Ohio Annual Conference as a professional church lay-worker. Her field of expertise at the time included: youth and young adult ministry, Christian Education, and Outreach program ministry. She was responsible for several mission trips, retreats, and study groups.
In 1984, Rev. Deanna entered seminary at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio to study for the pastoral ministry. While at seminary, she met her husband, the Rev. Paul Self-Price. They were married the following year. The Self-Prices have one daughter, Jordan, who is currently a senior at Northern Arizona University, majoring in vocal performance.
Upon graduation from seminary in 1988, the Self-Prices left Ohio to serve churches in the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference. Both pastors have served in a variety of settings from small member churches to large metropolitan and suburban churches. They have served together as co-pastors in several ministry settings. While in Idaho, Rev. Deanna also served in the chaplaincy with several regional care facilities. In 2004, Rev. Deanna was appointed as Senior Pastor of the Corvallis United Methodist Church, located near the campus of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
In 2006, the Self-Prices were invited by Bishop Minerva Carcaño to serve in the Desert Southwest Annual Conference. Rev. Deanna was appointed as Senior Pastor of North Scottsdale United Methodist Church where she served for five years. In 2011, Rev. Deanna was appointed as Senior Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills UMC in Sun City West AZ, where she has served for the past seven years.
Throughout the years, Rev. Deanna has served on several Annual Conference Boards and Committees. She has served on the Conference Board of Diaconal Ministry, the Committee on the Episcopacy (twice), the Annual Conference Sessions Committee as Agenda Chair and the Annual Conference Worship Team in both the Oregon-Idaho and Desert Southwest Conferences.
When not in service to the church, Rev. Deanna studies interior design and consults with other churches and individuals on creating “sacred space” for church, home, and office. She enjoys music, theater, and writing. Most of all, she enjoys being with her family and finding fun activities they can share together.
