Will your church charter a BSA troop?

Good morning Desert Southwest Conference,
On May 8, 2018, the LDS church announced that at the end of 2019, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Boy Scouts of America would conclude their partnership.
With the LDS church leaving the BSA chartering the United Methodist Church has an opportunity to extend our connection in the community. There are a bit over 60,000 young men in the Desert Southwest Conference who will not have a charter for Scouting in Dec. 2019. Together, we can help the vast majority of them.
Will your church get a team together to make and work relationships to fulfill this opportunity?
Are you looking for guidance on moving forward with chartering a BSA troop in your community or learning more about what this entails? If your answer is yes to either of these questions, contact David James, Desert Southwest Conference United Methodist Men President at azdlj412@gmail.com or Doug Wright, Scouting Ministries Coordinator at dwright5@centurylink.net.
