They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Then what would a video about giving God our best be worth? Priceless!
Our Communications Department has recently completed an initial series of three videos that highlight how our apportionment giving truly is about giving God our best. Each video is approximately one minute long, and these first three videos focus on the areas of camping, leadership development, and new faith ministries. All are important parts of our faith journeys, and all are possible because of your generous apportionment giving.
I encourage you to go to https://dscumc.org/apportionments and check out these three videos and the stories of lives changed that these ministries provide. Those stories are what are truly important, but for those of you who are interested, here are the numbers. Our year-to-date apportionment contributions through September are shown in the following graph:
September’s apportionment receipts declined slightly, the third consecutive month of decline. For the first 9 months of 2018, our churches contributed 59.9% of their apportionments. As you can see from the detailed report, this was 0.4% above last year and 0.5% above our average apportionment contributions through September for the last ten years. The North and South districts showed good improvement from last year, but the East and West Districts were down significantly. At this rate, we project an overall year-end apportionment contribution percentage of about 86%.
Remember that apportionments are a way to look beyond just ourselves. Please do all that you can to help our churches and our ministries continue to change lives by contributing apportionments as fully as possible in the last 3 months of 2018.
Thank you all for your commitment; it truly provides the financial stability for our connectional programs to work.
