The East and West District Holy Huddles on the Future of the Church are beginning this week. Clergy are required to attend both a Clergy Only and a Lay and Clergy Holy Huddle. For churches with more than one clergy, both associate pastors and senior pastors of all charges are expected to be present. If you are unable to be present at the Clergy Only Holy Huddle that is in concert with a Lay and Clergy Holy Huddle in your district, you are welcome to join any of the Clergy Only Holy Huddles. If you are unable to be present for any of the planned Holy Huddles, please send a written request to be excused to Bishop Bob by email at bishop@dscumc.org or mail 1550 E. Meadowbrook Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Please send a copy to your District Superintendent.
Laity are encouraged to attend a Huddle in their home district, but if unable to do so, they are also welcome to attend any of the Holy Huddles.

October 10 at Crossroads UMC, Phoenix (East & West District)
October 17 at Grace UMC, Mesa (East District)
October 18 at Sedona UMC, Sedona (for Flagstaff, Verde Valley, & Prescott area)
January 11, 2019 at Trinity UMC, Yuma (for Yuma area)
Lay and Clergy Holy Huddles are scheduled from 1:00-4:30pm
October 13 at Trinity UMC, Phoenix (West & East District)
October 27 at Federated Community Church, Flagstaff (for Flagstaff, Verde Valley, & Prescott area)
November 17 at North Scottsdale UMC, Scottsdale (East District)
January 12, 2019 – 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at Gila Mountain UMC, Yuma (for Yuma area)
What to Bring
Bishop Bob requests that clergy* bring a chalice to the combined Lay and Clergy Holy Huddle and the lay leader or a designated lay person from each church bring a small cross. *Deacons are welcome to bring a pitcher and basin if they wish.
Child care
If you need child care for a combined Lay and Clergy Holy Huddle, please contact your district office the Thursday prior to the Lay and Clergy Holy Huddle to let Carla Whitmire, cwhitmire@dscumc.org know how many children and what ages. Childcare will not be provided for the Clergy Only Holy Huddles.
