ERT Colleagues – This note is from Kathy Bryson, an Emergency Response Team (ERT) coordinator in Washington:
North Carolina is overwhelmed by the extensive need from recent (and pending) flooding and has requested teams come quickly.
The Pacific-Northwest (PNW) and Oregon/Idaho (Or/Id) Conferences have joined together to send three ERT groups to North Carolina in response to Hurricane Florence. We welcome all Desert Southwest (DSC) Conference ERTs to join these teams. The teams will fly to North Carolina.
ERT 1: Oct 28 – Nov 4
ERT 2: Nov 4 – Nov 11
ERT 3: Nov 11- Nov 18
Arrive/depart on Sundays (possible +or- a day for final planning), rest day during the week. Teams back-to-back at same Base Camp, share tools/PPE and in some cases, team members. We’re allowing people to stay over to work with the next team. We’re in contact with the NC Disaster Relief Center with the preliminary details of our teams. All Team Leads are very experienced and have led “airborne” missions.
Please to respond ASAP to pnwumcert@gmail.com or call 509-539-2978.
Then email Polly Turner, a Desert Southwest ERT organizer, who will try to help you with travel costs, questions, etc. polly@ix.netcom.com or 480-861-9033 to text.
DSC covers additional insurance coverage for our own ERTs and ERT teams.
Desert Southwest will be forming teams in early December and again in January, but the survivors need help immediately if possible.
Thank you
Polly Turner
