Did you know the United States makes up about 5% of the world’s population and has 25% of the world’s prisoners? Find out more about the need for Prison/Criminal Justice Reform at the Church and Society presentation at Dove of the Desert UMC, 7201 W Beardsley Rd, Glendale, AZ 85308, on Sunday, January 13 2:30-4:30 PM.

Featured speakers include:

  • Judge Cecil Ash presenting his common sense legal suggestions
  • Khalil Rushdan sharing his story about helping others reintegrate back into society after he was wrongly imprisoned
  • Billie Fidlin, Director of Outreach Ministries for the Desert Southwest Conference, describing her experience visiting Perryville inmates
  • Pastor Clare Sullivan will discuss her work in the Kairos both in and out of prison

Plan to attend this event and learn about two programs designed to help those in the prison system. Red Mountain UMC will present their program titled, Matthew 25:36, a pen pal program with the women at Perryville Prison. Nancy Nonini will talk about David’s Hope, a program addressing the need to decreasing imprisonment for persons suffering from mental health issues and providing health care instead.
