St. Mark’s UMC, Tucson AZ invites you to a special event Sunday afternoon, January 27, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Noor Alsabahi, a Syrian refugee, will be sharing her story in person and in the documentary “Something Like Home”. This 36 minute film highlights not only Noor’s journey as a refugee, but also the journey of 3 others who were forced to flee their native country to find a new home in another land.
Sponsored by the Church and Society group at St Mark’s, along with Adult Spiritual Growth, the hope is this event will remind the community that the United Methodist Church is truly a place of Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors; and that all are God’s children.
The documentary will be shown at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at https://loftcinema.org/film/something-like-home/. The Loft Cinema seats 398 people and is on the lower level of the main theater (no steps). We hope to “sell out!” All proceeds go to The Inn Project here in Tucson. First United Methodist Church has become a haven for refugees in transition and they can use the dollars for updating a space that is currently getting much use!
Please plan to attend if you are free that day! If you are unable to join us, any aid you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help and support. Let’s show the community of Tucson how Christians can love everyone from everywhere!
