All North District clergy and laity are invited and encouraged to attend our annual Leadership Conference on Saturday, January 26th. The conference will meet in three locations across the district all at the same time…
- Henderson, Nevada — Green Valley UMC, 2200 Robindale Rd.
- Flagstaff, Arizona — Trinity Heights UMC, 3600 N 4th St.
- Fort Mohave, Arizona — Mohave UMC, 1593 Lipan Blvd.
Christina Dillabough, our Desert Southewest Conference Communications ministry department director will be the tech master behind the curtain, as we connect the Leadership Conference sites via the web.
Worship will focus upon Matthew 28:16-20 — In Challenging Times, Remain…Calm, Connected and on Course. Our worship speakers will be Pastors Bob Gilfert (St. Johns UMC), Lynn Bartlow (Trinity Heights UMC), and Dave Devereaux (Desert Spring UMC).
The Teaching Session will feature Jon Katov, founder and CEO of Open Table. Their mission is training communities through Open Table models to help people develop better lives they envision for themselves.
During the Teaching Session we will receive the biblical foundation of the value and process of working social capital. Mr Katov will share the powerful ways this Network Table of convening, helps us discover the social assets in our local churches and in our larger communities. Judith Fritsch, who served for 23 years at the Arizona Department of Economic Security (the Arizona human service umbrella agency) will lead us in hands-on experiences of discovering the social capital through each person at our conference table groups.
A bit more about Jon Katov — Jon is a servant leader, social enterprise builder and former senior advertising and marketing executive with thirty years experience developing and expanding community service and commercial innovations. As the founder and CEO of Open Table, Jon has spoken to thousands of people in the United Sates and from countries around the world about the Open Table story and how we can invest our Relational Assets (the combination of relational and social capital) in each other to help us all live the better lives we envision for ourselves. Through the Open Table model, Jon has partnered with faith communities and agencies of the federal government to lead the development of a national shared purpose movement to grow the common good in communities.
Jon recently founded the Center for Community Convening ™, an organization of Open Table, that convenes multiple community sectors in shared purpose initiatives. Through the Community Convening ™ model, business, faith communities, foundations, government, healthcare, media, service clubs, universities and other sectors co-invest their Relational Assets to expand Tables and develop innovative models to help solve social challenges.
There will be a wide array of workshops offered to strengthen our ministry as servants of Christ. See the list as you register at https://dscumc.org/event/north-district-leadership-training-conference-2/
