Ministry goes on. Worship goes on. Discipleship goes on. Self-reflection goes on. Bible study goes on. Outreach goes on. Nurture goes on. Fellowship goes on. Encouragement goes on. Planning for Vacation Bible School, Mission, Growth – go on. Inclusion goes on.

Last Fall DSC congregations and people were invited to participate in a Conference-Wide mission trip to build houses in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point), Mexico.

After months of discussions and queries, 58 volunteers from 10 congregations leave tomorrow for Puerto Peñasco. Yuma – Tucson – Mesa – Gold Canyon – Avondale – Gilbert – Surprise – Sun City – Glendale – Peoria. The youngest volunteer is 6 years old, the oldest 90! Families, seniors, teens, college students, pastors, builders, non-builders – and a District Superintendent.

In November 1Mission, our host, transitioned from building 11’x24’ frame houses (in 3 days – there will be photos of a couple of these) to building 20’x20’ houses built with locally manufactured foam blocks – a process which will take 20 days and span several short-term groups.

We’ll work on various stages on 3 houses, taking the baton from a prior group and handing the baton to a next group. It’s going to be a blast – working, sweating, eating, story-telling, sleeping, worshiping, photo-taking, touring, talking about doing it again.

We invite prayers and promise lots of photos.

The first photos are of a model home (foam construction) built at 1Mission’s Base Camp. The remainder are of frame homes built by DSC congregations in February and November 2018.
