Appointment Announcements April 15

The Rev. Nancy Cushman, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the West District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint the Rev. David Harriss as the pastor of Gila Mountain United Methodist Church in Yuma, AZ, effective July 1, 2019. Rev. Harriss is currently serving at St. Michael’s United Methodist Church in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Please pray for Rev. Harriss, Gila Mountain UMC, and St. Michael’s UMC during this time of transition.

 


 

Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata has received word that it is projected Bishop Sharma Lewis, of the Richmond Episcopal Area, will appoint the Rev. Camille Pentsil as the pastor at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia, effective July 1, 2019, per paragraph 346.1 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Rev. Pentsil is currently serving as the pastor of First UMC in Tempe, AZ. 

 

The Rev. N. Susan Brims, missional strategist and Superintendent of the East District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint the Rev. Dr. Kelly Bender as the interim senior pastor of First UMC in Tempe, AZ, effective July 1, 2019, per paragraphs 338.3 and 357.6 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline.  Rev. Bender currently serves in retirement as the chaplain for UMOM New Day Centers in Phoenix, AZ.

Please pray for Rev. Pentsil, Rev. Bender, First UMC in Tempe, UMOM New Day Centers, and Crossroads UMC in Virginia during this time of transition. 

 


 

The Rev. Dan Morley, missional strategist and Superintendent of the North District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint Samara Jenkins, according to the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline paragraphs 337.2 and 337.3, as the associate pastor of University United Methodist Church and Campus Minister at University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) effective July 1, 2019. Pastor Jenkins is currently serving  First UMC in Crestline, OH in the East Ohio Conference. Please pray for Pastor Jenkins, University UMC, UNLV Campus Ministry and First UMC during this time of transition.
