Saturday, September 14, 2019, the Desert Southwest Annual Conference will have a special, called session at Gold Canyon UMC. The purpose of this special session of the Annual Conference shall be to consider all remaining petitions and resolutions submitted to the June 2019 session of Annual Conference. It will also consider new petitions or resolutions submitted by August 1, 2019. Legislation for this special session must all relate to the topics of a response to the 2019 special session of the General Conference and about the future of the Desert Southwest Annual Conference and/or The United Methodist Church.
The deadline for new legislation submission is August 1, 2019. The guidelines for legislation can be found here: https://dscumc.org/ac. We encourage clergy and delegates to be familiar with the legislation, which will be posted on the website in advance of the September 14th special session.
Those elected as delegates for the June 2019 session of Annual Conference should plan to register and attend the September session (churches should not elect new delegates for this event). If delegates are unable to attend, elected alternates may register and vote in their place. The registration deadline is August 30, 2019, and the cost is $20, which includes lunch. Registration received after August 30th will incur a $35 late fee.
The special session will take place at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, 6640 S. Kings Ranch Road Gold Canyon, AZ 85118. Clergy and delegates must be present in person to vote.
