In Memory of Rev. Cynthia Langston Kirk

In sadness, we share the news that Rev. Cynthia Langston Kirk died on Friday, October 25, 2019.

Rev. Langston Kirk was a retired elder in the Desert Southwest Conference and was born in Tallahassee, FL. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University and Claremont School of Theology. In 1997, she was admitted on probation and became an elder in full connection in 2000. Her service included: Tucson: St. Mark’s UMC; Tucson: First UMC; Tucson: Christ Church UM; and Piecing Stories: Creative Art and Spiritual Formation. Rev. Langston Kirk retired in 2015. She was well known among her colleagues for her beautiful liturgical banners and customized stoles.

Cynthia is survived by her husband Leslie, four children and four grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Catalina United United Methodist Church, 2700 East Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716. Clergy are invited to participate in a clergy processional wearing a stole created by Cynthia, if possible. A reception will take place immediately following the service.
