In Memory of Rev. Roger Stressman

In sadness, we share the news that the Rev. Roger Stressman died on Sunday, October 27, 2019.

Rev. Stressman was a retired elder in the Desert Southwest Conference. He was born in Ionia, MI and was a graduate of North Central College, Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, and Claremont School of Theology.  He was licensed in 1942 and ordained elder in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1947 where he served three parishes in Michigan. His service also included: the Southern California-Arizona Conference of the Methodist Church: Tucson: Catalina UMC; Scottsdale: Los Arcos UMC; in the Pacific Southwest Conference: Phoenix: Epworth UMC; Sun City: Willowbrook UMC; in the Desert Southwest Conference: Sun City: Willowbrook UMC; and as the North District Superintendent. Rev. Stressman retired in 1990 and in retirement he served at Mesa: Velda Rose UMC; and as a chaplain for the Mesa Police Department.

Roger is survived by two sons, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday November 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Tempe, 215 East University Drive, Tempe, AZ 85281. Clergy are invited to participate in a clergy processional. A time of fellowship will take place immediately following the service.
