Desert Southwest Conference Camping and Retreat ministries is excited to announce the hiring of a new Executive Director for Mingus Mountain Methodist Camp and Retreat Center: Catharine (Cat) Holbert. Cat comes to serve Mingus after sixteen years of experience in camp direction, the last six and a half as the Site Director of Lazy W Ranch in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Cat is a board member of our national United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries Association and is excited to join our team to “assist and guide the mission, vision and values of camping ministry with a specific eye on the big picture. Cat’s background has been working with different models of camp operations and she is eager to lead the ministry at Mingus by creating enhanced program excellence, providing sound fiscal management, and offering hands-on oversight.
We are pleased to welcome Cat and anticipate that her experience, expertise, and enthusiasm for camp and retreat ministries will bless Mingus and our local United Methodist Churches. As part of our long-range plan to pursue greater missional vitality, while maintaining fiscal responsibility, Cat will be instrumental in setting up new initiatives and hiring the new position of Assistant Director / Program Coordinator.
