The Rev. N. Susan Brims, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the East District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata has appointed the Rev. Robert Rynders as Executive Director at 1703: A Faith Collaborative in Scottsdale, AZ, effective January 1, 2020 per paragraph 331.4 in the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. (This paragraph number is a correction from what was listed in the original announcement.)

1703 is a new nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help faith communities build community and connect to their neighbors. In addition to developing its staffing requirements, 1703 has also launched Social Thread, a non-judgmental community of faith that organizes gatherings and small groups that meet in homes and public spaces. The Orontes Project is now known as 1703: A Faith Collaborative.

Rev. Rynders will have a secondary appointment at Sanctuary UMC in Tucson, AZ per paragraph 331.5 in the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline.
