Appointment Announcement March 9, 2020

The Rev. Dan Morley, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the North District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint the Rev. Mary Dotson as the pastor of Green Valley United Methodist Church in Henderson, Nevada, effective July 1, 2020, per paragraph 346.1 of the 2016 United Methodist Church Book of Discipline. Rev. Dotson is currently a member of the Susquehanna Annual Conference (Pennsylvania) and is serving in the Desert Southwest Conference at First United Methodist Church of Safford, Arizona.

 

Wallasky, Rev. Dr. JamesThe Rev. Dr James Wallasky, currently appointed to Green Valley UMC, Henderson, Nevada, will enter into retired status effective July 1, 2020.

Please pray for Rev. Dotson, Rev. Wallasky, Green Valley UMC, and First UMC of Safford during this time of transition.

 

 

 

The Rev. N. Susan Brims, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the East District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint the Rev. Tom Butcher as the interim pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona, effective March 30, 2020 through June 30, 2020 per paragraphs 338.3 and 357.6 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Rev. Butcher most recently served at Lakeview UMC in Sun City, Arizona. Rev. Butcher entered retired status in 2018.

 

Grace UMC, Mesa, ArizonaRev. Janessa Chastain, currently appointed to Grace UMC, has accepted a position as the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity in Boise, Idaho and will begin a personal leave of absence effective April 1, 2020 per paragraphs ¶ 353.2a and ¶ 353.4 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline.

Navarrete, Rev. Evelene SombreroBishop Robert T. Hoshibata has affirmed that Bishop W. Earl Bledsoe, of the Northwest Texas-New Mexico Episcopal Area, intends to appoint the Rev. Evelene “Tweedy” Sombrero Navarrete, as Director of  the Four Corners Native American Ministry and as pastor of First United Methodist Church. This is a two-point charge in Shiprock, New Mexico effective May 1, 2020, per paragraph 346.1 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Rev. Navarrete is currently serving as pastor of Shepherd of the Valley UMC in Phoenix, Arizona.
