Appointment Announcements March 31, 2020

The Rev. Nancy Cushman, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the West District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint the Rev. Javier Olivares as interim pastor of Shepherd of the Valley United Methodist, less than full-time, in Phoenix, AZ, effective April 16, 2020 until June 30, 2020 per ¶ 338.3 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Rev. Olivares will continue to serve in the Office of New and Vital Faith, less than full time.

Let us be in prayer for Rev. Olivares, his family, and Shepherd of the Valley UMC during this time of transition.

 

The Rev. Nancy Cushman, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the West District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint the Rev. Misty Howick as pastor of Spirit Song United Fellowship, in Peoria, AZ, effective July 1, 2020. Rev. Howick is currently serving as associate pastor of Prescott United Methodist Church in Prescott, AZ.

 

 

Fairchild, Rev. ValerieThe Rev. Valerie Fairchild, currently appointed to Spirit Song UMF, will enter retired status effective July 1, 2020.

Let us be in prayer for Rev. Fairchild, Rev. Howick, their families, Spirit Song UMF, and Prescott UMC during this time of transition.

 

 

Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata has affirmed that Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr., of the Great Plains Episcopal Area, intends to appoint the Rev. Brian Kemp-Schlemmer, as pastor of Gretna United Methodist Church in Gretna, Nebraska effective July 1, 2020, per ¶ 346.1 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Rev. Kemp-Schlemmer is currently serving as pastor of City Square UMF and Primera Iglesia Metodista Unida in Phoenix, Arizona.

Please pray for Rev. Kemp-Schlemmer, his family, City Square UMF, Primera Iglesia MU, and Gretna UMC during this time of transition.

 

The Rev. Nancy Cushman, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the West District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint Dr. Osias Segura-Guzmán, Licensed Local Pastor, to extension ministry with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church, serving as Coordinator of Curriculum and Small Group Leadership Development for new churches in Latin America, especially the Evangelical Methodist Church of Honduras, effective April 1, 2020, per ¶ 318.1 and ¶ 337.3a and ¶ 344.1c of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline.

Please pray for Pastor Segura-Guzmán, and his family in his continuing ministry with GBGM as a newly licensed local pastor.

 

The Rev. Dan Morley, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the North District, announced that Bishop Robert T. Hoshibata intends to appoint Pastor Andrew Devereaux as pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Kingman, Arizona effective July 1, 2020 per ¶ 318.1 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Pastor Devereaux currently serves as associate pastor at Red Mountain United Methodist Church.

Please pray for Pastor Devereaux, his family, St. John’s UMC, and Red Mountain UMC during this transition.
