May 2020 Apportionment Receipts Improve Slightly Despite COVID-19

by | Jun 1, 2020 | Apportionments, Conference Newsletter

Thanks to the great connectional commitment demonstrated by so many of our churches, May 2020 apportionment receipts amazingly increased a little despite the continued operational and financial impact of COVID-19.

For the first five months of 2020, our churches contributed 28.7% of their apportionments.  This was 3.7% (and $267,000) below last year and 5.2% below our average apportionment contributions through May for the last 10 years.  Based on these results, we currently project that we will receive about 70%-73% of our 2020 apportionments by the end of the year.

Apportionment receipts through May 2020 are shown graphically as follows:

Remember that apportionments are a way to look beyond just ourselves.  They support great connectional ministries like urban ministries, campus ministries, camps, new church starts, missionaries, and many, many more.  Please continue to do all that you can to help our churches and our ministries continue to change lives by contributing apportionments as fully as possible in the last seven months of 2020.  Thanks again for your commitment; it truly provides the financial stability for our connectional programs to work.

I look forward to seeing you virtually and soon at our annual conference session.
