By Wendy Swanson, Chair of the DSC Vital Faith Committee
There is very little that can be said that is positive about how COVID 19 has affected our communities, but the development of new ministries by our churches is one. Many churches have worked hard and fast to learn how to do online worship. Many of these churches are reporting that they are reaching new people and having a higher attendance than in-person worship. This is our new reality. Online worship is here to stay. When we return to our buildings, we will still need to provide online worship as well. Do you want an opportunity that you help you take your online worship to the next step?
Path 1, our General agency that provides resources to help us reach new people, is offering a six-week online course starting August 4 about online worship and social media. It will be held once a week on Tuesdays for two hours. The cost is $200 per person. The Desert Southwest Conference Vital Faith Committee is offering 50% scholarships for those interested in the course, but who need some financial help.
