by | Nov 4, 2020 | Billie's Blog, Church and Society, Conference Newsletter

Recently the Desert Southwest Conference Board of Church & Society partnered with the Arizona Faith Network to hold a live stream Facebook event with area attorneys to discuss the impact of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Our own Conference Chancellor, Marilee Clark, along with area attorneys Paul Bullis, Chair DSC Prison Reform Task Force;  and Rev. Gerald Richard, AFN Board Member; fielded questions from moderators Gerry Hills, Chair, Conference Board of Church & Society; Rev. Khalif Smith, Chair RACE Coalition, First UMC Mesa; Rev. Katie Sexton, Executive Director of the Arizona Faith Network; and Billie K. Fidlin, Conference Director of Outreach & Justice.

Questions included topics such as court packing, the influence of popular Justices on outcomes, and the right of Justices to air personal opinions during the nomination process as well as once seated. You can view and share this extraordinary conversation now available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/nsNoLhhEQjE and included below.
