Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

It is my privilege to share news of an appointment change with you. After prayerful discernment, the Rev. Nancy Cushman, Superintendent of the West District, has decided to retire from active ministry. Nancy has served with distinction as the West District Superintendent since July 1, 2018. In that time, she has supported and cared for the laity and the clergy and churches of her district and most recently, as a member and chairperson of the Connectional Ministries Team. I have appreciated Nancy’s wisdom and her deep faith which she always brought to every team and committee she has been assigned to serve on.

Although I am saddened to receive her request for retirement, I honor her desire to spend more time with her spouse, the Rev. George Cushman and their family, and to engage in more leisurely pursuits including gardening and quilting.

I will be meeting with the West District Committee on Superintendency to receive their input regarding a new Superintendent. Meanwhile, I trust that you will find ways to express your gratitude to Nancy and George and to hold all the churches of the West District, their laity and clergy in prayer!

In Christ,
Bishop Bob
