In sadness, we share the news that Mr. Robert (Bob) Wagner, spouse of The Rev. Pam Wagner, died on Wednesday January 20, 2021.
Robert (Bob) Wagner was born on September 22, 1947. Bob was a Pharmacist and received his degree from Purdue University in 1970. He was drafted into the Army soon after and proudly served at Ft. Rucker Lyster Army Hospital for two years before his honorable discharge. Over his years of pharmacy, he received an honorary doctorate, as well as several awards for his excellent leadership in the many pharmacies he served. Often the quieter one in the bunch, Bob’s real passion was music: guitar, bass, a couple of wind instruments, and keyboard. At home he developed a small recording studio over the years, writing and recording his own music. As Bob and Pam moved around, he sang in many church choirs, even leading the choir at Desert Chapel for two years. Bob also played in bell choirs, provided special music, and helped with the sound systems in churches Pam served in. In the 80’s and 90’s he used his talents in Walk to Emmaus. During the 90’s he developed and led “Christian Light Band,” which played every Saturday night at the early version of UMOM’s New Day Center among other places. He is survived by his wife, Pam, who will be forever grateful for the love and support he gave her as she followed her own passion into ministry.
Rev. Pam Wagner is a retired elder in the Desert Southwest Conference. She is a graduate of Arizona State University and Claremont School of Theology. She was admitted on probation in 1998, was appointed to attend school, and later became a member in full connection in 2001. She served at: Sun City West: Shepherd of the Hills UMC (Associate); Sedona: Sedona UMC; Peoria: Spirit of Hope UMC; and Kingman: St. John’s UMC. Rev. Wagner retired in 2017 and served at Mesa: Velda Rose UMC (Associate) in retirement. She returned to retirement in 2020.
There will be a service of memories livestreamed on March 6, 2021 at 10 am MST. You can access the service on the Desert Chapel UMC website, and later on YouTube. If you have any memories to share for the service, please email them to Pam.
