After the necessary Covid pause of last summer, we are so excited to welcome campers back to Mingus Mountain and Potosi Pines Camps!  We have been planning for months – hiring and training staff, recruiting and training volunteers, planning the weekly session schedules, spiffing up the camp properties!  And we are just about ready!!  Our first sessions are just around the corner – Mini Campers will arrive at Mingus on June 3rd and Elementary I Campers at Potosi Pines on June 7th!

Although many camp sessions are near or at capacity, we do have some availability.  To learn more about our camp programs or to register:

Potosi Pines Counselors 4 Christ are Ready to Serve!

The teen leadership team at Potosi Pines is now in its 11th year.  Every year we see the benefit of having these amazing, well-trained youth as part of our Elementary Camp staff.  This year is no different!  This group has been working hard all year – sometimes on zoom, sometimes in person at a distance with a mask, but always with great heart!  They have been preparing and planning for our summer camps and are so excited to serve this summer.  After missing 2020, everyone is ready to go!  We will have 6  youth serving at our 3 elementary camps and know that our campers will be blessed by them.  If you think about it, say a prayer for all these awesome young servants who are giving up a good chunk of their summer to come and serve the kids at camp and for all the adventures at Potosi this summer.  They rock!!

This is the prayer they wrote to guide our planning and our camps:

Hey God!  Thank you for the opportunity and ability to serve the camp we love.  We ask for the strength, patience, and endurance to inspire our community to be the best it can be.  Keep us safe, healthy, and full of your light as we adventure together.  Amen!

Mingus Mountain Summer Staff

We have a great staff lined up to serve Mingus Mountain this summer and look forward to having our camp family get to know them!  Kallie Handlong, recent NAU graduate, is serving as our Summer Program Director.  Kallie has been working with Cat Holbert, Executive Director, to plan our summer camp sessions – everything from hiring summer counselors/interns, recruiting volunteers, coordinating daily summer camp schedules to purchasing craft supplies.  Six other young adults have been hired to serve as our summer counselors/interns.  These CIs have completed extensive training including high ropes/challenge course and archery certification.  They are ready for summer camp!

New Assistant Director at Mingus Mountain

We are excited to welcome our new Assistant Director!  Jonathan Gowan and his family (wife Emma and young sons Jonah and Henry) have just joined us from a day camp in Tennessee.  Prior to that he worked at a UMC residential camp in Alabama, served at Habitat for Humanity, and served as a youth pastor.  Jonathan grew up attending a UMC summer camp in Tennesee and wants everyone to be a part of the “camp family”!

We are so happy to have Jonathan and his family at camp and look forward to having you meet them!

Volunteer Summer Staff Recruitment

We are looking for a few male/identifying as male volunteers to serve as counselors at both Mingus Mountain and  Potosi Pines.

At Mingus Mountain Camp, churches providing at least one volunteer will receive either one full camp scholarship or a one night, 4 meal staff retreat at camp.  For more information, contact Cat Holbert or Dina Reid.
