Summers, Rev. David

Dave Summers has been a UMC pastor for  thirty-five years. I’m a third generation United Methodist pastor in my family and a native of Phoenix. Taking full advantage of our itinerant system, I started ministry in the Boston area, then spent fifteen years in the Cal-Nevada Conference before coming to Desert Southwest in 2003. I love to work on spiritual formation and ways to do meaningful ministry in the community. My wife Kim and I have been married for 23 years. Kim is an RN who has worked in ER’s, ran Monterey County Emergency Medical Services and an ambulance company before becoming disabled from back issues and chronic pain. We have with four kids between us: Katherine, who lives in Houston with her family; Marc, who serves in the Air Force and is stationed in Minot, North Dakota (really Baja Canada); Lindsey and her family in New York City and Andrew and his family in Santa Cruz. We are blessed with five grandchildren and one more on the way. We love to garden and play/sing classic rock ‘n roll. We are dog lovers and enjoy Max, our long-haired chihuahua mix. Our big challenge in recently moving to Sun City is building a small pond for our water turtle, Ursula.
