Last year the Desert Southwest Conference set up an anonymous hotline for reporting criminal activities such as financial fraud or sexual abuse in our churches. Each church received custom magnets with the hotline information. This summer remind your church and staff about this resource. If COVID-19 restrictions or the return to worship altered your campus’ high-traffic areas, consider moving the magnets or printed posters to a more accessible location or print additional posters at https://dscumc.org/hotline-reporting/. Send a reminder to your congregation by copying and paste the brief article below in the church newsletter or congregational email blast. Then, send them a reminder to beware of email scams. Fraud Prevention Reminder

Preventing fraud is an act of good stewardship. Did you know we have a 24-hour hotline available for reporting criminal activity such as fraud or sexual abuse? Of course, you can contact the pastor or District Superintendent directly if you suspect criminal activity, but you can also use the anonymous hotline which sends a confidential report directly to the Bishop and District Superintendents. Reports can be submitted online at www.FRAUDHL.com or by phone at 1-855-FRAUD-HL (1-855-372-8345). The company ID, DSCUMC, is required when you make a report as well as the church’s name or pastor’s name and city/state.

REMEMBER: This hotline is for criminal activity only, it is not for disagreements with the pastor or other non-criminal conflicts. As always, a person may also contact their pastor or district superintendent directly with any concern. We are committed to being good stewards of the gifts and people God has entrusted to our churches. If you see something, please say something.
