In sadness, we share the news that Rev. William (Bill) Denlinger died on Thursday, September, 16, 2021.

Rev. William (Bill) Denlinger was a retired elder in the Desert Southwest Conference. He was born on March 12, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He and his wife Gloria met at Asbury College and were married on their graduation day in 1958. They were married 63 years and have three children.

Rev. Denlinger was admitted on trial in 1959, graduated from Candler School of Theology and became a full member in 1961. His service included Florida Conference of The Methodist Church: School 1959; Fort Meyers: Edgewood 1961; Southern California-Arizona Conference of The Methodist Church: Phoenix: Central Methodist Church (Associate) 1967; Flagstaff: East Flagstaff (Trinity Heights-Founding Pastor); Southern California-Arizona Conference of The UMC: Flagstaff: Trinity Heights UMC 1968; Pacific & Southwest Conference: Flagstaff: Trinity Heights UMC 1977; Phoenix: Cross Roads UMC 1983; Desert Southwest Conference: Phoenix: Cross Roads UMC 1984; Tucson: St. Paul’s UMC 1989; Sun City West: Shepherd of the Hills UMC 1997. Rev. Denlinger retired in 2000 and since his retirement was active at St. Paul’s UMC.

A service celebrating the life of Rev. Denlinger will be held Saturday, November 13th, at 1:00pm at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 8051 E Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85710. Clergy of the conference who wish to attend are invited to wear their robes and process in together. The service will be live streamed via the church’s Vimeo, Facebook, and Youtube accounts for those who wish to participate remotely.
During this pandemic season, St. Paul’s requires all in-person attendees to wear a mask, and we encourage responsible social distancing. However, please note that we are not specifically assigning seats or limiting sanctuary capacity for this particular service.
A reception will follow outside on the church grounds, weather permitting.
