Committee on Nominations Update

by | Dec 15, 2021 | UMW-Conference-Mailchimp

As 2021 comes to a close, we will be saying good-bye and thank you to Alberta Farnsworth, president; Suvasini McCormick, secretary; Barbara Phillips, committee on nominations member; and Connie Hegeman, spiritual growth coordinator. We wish them well in all their future endeavors, and we will miss them on the Conference Leadership Team.

As of January, 2022, we will welcome some new members to the Conference Leadership Team.

Gracie Campbell will be our new president. Gracie comes from the North District and has held a number of offices on the local and conference levels during her time as a member of United Methodist Women. Gracie enjoys visiting with her family and friends and traveling.

Arvilla Jungman, a familiar face around the conference, will be our new spiritual growth coordinator fulfilling the unexpired term of Connie Hegeman.

We will have three new members on the committee on nominations:

Nellie Amedee and Carol Johnson come from the East District. Nellie identifies herself as a mother, grandmother, sister, friend, servant, and retiree. She originally comes from New Orleans and now makes her home in Tempe. She is devoted to worship and serving. Carol is a retired nurse, who is busier than ever in her retirement. She has a great love for United Methodist Women and is serving as president of her unit at Gold Canyon UMC. Her hobbies include traveling, baking, reading, and quilting. M. Kay Hayworth joins us from the South District. She and her husband moved here from Kansas as snowbirds but became full-time residents in 2020. Kay is a life-long Methodist/United Methodist. As an adult, she has always been a member of United Methodist Women and its predecessors. She has served in many offices in the organization.

Marjie Hrabe has resigned her position as secretary of the Conference Leadership Team. She and her husband will be moving to Ohio in a few months.  We will miss getting to know her and wish her the best.

Thanks to the current members and welcome to the new ones. The Desert Southwest Conference United Methodist Women will continue to have a great leadership team.

Cheryl Reed, chair, committee on nominations
