December 2021 Apportionments Report

by | Jan 12, 2022 | Apportionments

By Randy Bowman, Desert Southwest Conference Treasurer & Director of Finance & Administration

We finished the 2021 apportionment year strongly, with December apportionment receipts being the best month of the year. The Conference fully paid one month of 2021 apportionments for all of our churches, and the churches paid 82.2% of the other eleven months. The result was an overall apportionment receipts level of 83.7% for the year. That was 5.2% above last year’s level but 1.6% below our 10-year historical average.

2021 apportionment receipts are detailed by district as follows:

We appreciate the sacrifices made by all of our churches and congratulate the 62% of them that were able to contribute 100% or more of their apportionments in 2021. Overall, the Conference continues to be in strong financial shape. Our available cash reserves remain in excess of $3 million, which allowed the Conference Council on Finance & Administration (CFA) to approve payment of one month of apportionments for all of our churches again in 2022. We certainly won’t be able to continue this every year, but CFA was honored to be able to do this for one more year. More information will be communicated on this 2022 apportionment “dividend’ in the coming days.

Remember that apportionments are a way to look beyond just ourselves. Please do all that you can to help our churches and our ministries continue to change lives by contributing apportionments as fully as possible in the coming 2022 year. Thanks again for your commitment; it truly provides the financial stability for our connectional programs to work.
